Alone in the Universe

from Martians & Martinis by Chasing Shadows Productions

/

about

Honey Moon wistfully looks up at the stars and asks the big question...

lyrics

Are we alone in the universe?
Is there someone out there, somewhere?
Is that better?
Is it worse?
Is it just one, gigantic emptiness?
If I am so alone on Earth
Am I alone
in the universe?

Am I the only one of my kind?
Is that why I could leave it all behind
the way I did?
What did I think that I was going to find?

It’s an easy thing
to just make fun of people
and their ridiculous beliefs.
But, sometimes, I’ll admit,
I get jealous
of their sense of inner peace.

Is it so bad to imagine
that emotional relief
or be alone
in the universe?

Well, I don’t really think that I am better
Than someone who believes
those things are real.
If that’s what she wants to think,
then let her.
Who am I
to tell her how to feel?

Am I alone in the universe?
Is there someone trying to find me
to remind me what I’m worth

And teach me how
to never doubt
again

and say these words:

“You’re not alone
in the universe.”
